While there are positives to streaming theatre, is it a way of the future?
The question of exhaustion, and its impact on artists under current conditions, is never far from my mind. Perhaps that’s because I am thoroughly exhausted.
The theatre is so enchanting to me because it is an art form that explores humanity and human experiences, and emphasizes the human connection. And in essence, my concern is how does theatre function when it is no longer entirely "human?"
Why do we think certain institutions produce better artists, and why are those institutions so often the most expensive or selective? Why do we believe it is appropriate to gauge the talent or potential of an individual based on something so closely tied to economic privilege?
If you want your team to trust you, both with work tasks and with their personal lives, you need to show that you trust them in that same way.
My time so far with the Digital Internship Program has been incredibly eye opening. I have come to learn more about the encounters of microaggressions in my past and how to overcome them in theatre for future generations.
